In 1908 Lord Robert Baden-Powell organised Boy Scouts throughout the Empire. The Westbourne Troop in 1920 had 16 Scouts and Scout Master E.Poley. In 1928 the group numbers were 25 Scouts, 20 Cubs and 6 Rovers. The Scout Master was D.A.Coasby, Cub Master was F. Bleach and there were 2 Assistants J. Souter and W. Mackenzie. Prior to the Second World War the scout hut was in the grounds of Mrs Close at Deepsprings, Foxbury Lane. At some stage the group ceased to exist, maybe because of the war, when Auxiliary Territorial Service girls were billeted there and had their meals in the scout hut.
